Tim Lewis

Based in Stamford CT, Tim has been teaching and playing Saxophone, Flute and Clarinet throughout the state and in New York since graduating Western Connecticut State University in 2014. Tim currently teaches within the Fairfield Public School district, directing Award Winning Bands and Jazz Programs across all grade levels.

Tim is steeped in the traditions of Jazz Education having studied improvisation and pedagogy with his mentors Jimmy Greene, Dan Goble, Javier Oviedo, Andrew Beals, Dave Noland, and Jamie Begian. While pursuing his B.M. in Jazz Studies he was the recipient of numerous scholarships, recognitions and awards for his performances.

He has performed with notable musicians such as Jimmy Greene, Jeff Tain Watts, George Garzone, John Pattitucci, Curtis Fuller, Noah Bless, the late Mulgew Miller, 10,000 Maniacs, The Hartford Symphony Orchestra and the award winning Connecticut Transit Authority. He performs regularly in local Small Groups, Pit Orchestras and Big Bands.

Tim has a studio of private students on Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute, a large number of whom participate in the CT All-State Festivals and auditioned youth ensembles across New England. He is a frequent clinician and performs with student groups as a featured guest artist.

​

Tim is a co-director and founding member of the Affinity Big Band and the Affinity Horns.
